Romanes é uma figura desconhecida, mas importante para o entendimento daquele período. Ele se julgava o 'herdeiro' de Darwin após a morte deste quando o certo seria Wallace que ainda estava vivo. Os dois se 'pegaram' e Wallace deixou, como sempre, que Romanes fosse adiante com o seu desejo de glória. Os dois se envolveram em espiritualismo -- pecado mortal na Nomenklatura. Talvez por isso pouco sabemos sobre este terrible enfant de Darwin.
