“Darwin’s Compass: How Evolution Discovers the Song of Creation”

Simon Conway Morris is Professor of Evolutionary Paleobiology in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society aged 39, and was awarded the Walcot Medal of the National Academy of Sciences in 1987, and the Lyell Medal of the Geological Society of London in 1998.

Professor Conway Morris made his reputation with a very detailed and careful study of the Burgess Shale Fossils, and exploit celebrated in Stephen Jay Gould's Wonderful Life - though Conway Morris' own book on the subject, The Crucible of Creation, is somewhat critical of Gould's presentation and interpretation.
